How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign is an orthodontic system that uses clear aligners to straighten teeth rather than wires and brackets. Each Invisalign patient receives a series of custom-made aligners crafted using digital impressions of their bite. Every set of aligners within the series is designed to bring the teeth closer to their intended position. You'll switch to a new set of aligners within your series every two weeks or so, and the whole process usually takes 12–18 months.
One of the best parts about Invisalign is how self-directed treatment is. You'll only have to visit our dental office in Murray Hill, Manhattan every two months for checkups. For some Invisalign patients, we can also arrange virtual check-ins, so your visits may be even less frequent.
What Does It Mean
To Be a Platinum Invisalign Provider?

Our dental office in Murray Hill, Manhattan, NY, holds Platinum Provider status, which means we treat a minimum of 60 Invisalign patients every six months. It also means patients can trust that our dentists are deeply experienced with clear aligner treatment and have a track record of great results to show for it.

What Makes a Good Candidate For Invisalign?
Your Overall Oral Health
Your NYC dentist will conduct an in-depth review of your dental health to begin, including checks for cavities and gum disease. Any outstanding issue will need to be addressed before you start aligner treatment to give you the best chance at the best results. We can perform any restorative treatment you need here at our New York, NY, office.
Your Degree of Misalignment
Aligner treatment is best for patients with mild to moderate dental misalignment. For some complex cases, we can offer Invisalign attachments, which are small bumps of resin we cure to the teeth to achieve a better grip with the aligner. Especially complex misalignment is best treated with metal or clear ceramic braces. With an orthodontist on staff, we offer both options.
Your Commitment to Results
You'll have to wear your aligners for 20–22 hours every day to see the best results from your treatment plan, only taking them out to eat, brush, and floss. This commitment can be difficult for some younger patients, so we typically recommend exploring braces as a first option instead. However, we are more than happy to help you weigh the pros and cons of both braces and clear aligners.
We'll Provide a Retainer To Protect Your Newly Aligned Smile
Some patients are surprised to learn that post-treatment retainers are an important part of the Invisalign process. In the first months after your teeth have straightened, they'll want to shift back to their old misaligned position. A retainer can keep that from happening and protect the progress you've made.
Our NYC team can place lingual retainers after clear aligner treatment. This type of retainer is simply a thin wire cemented to the backs of the teeth. They work well to prevent shifting, are not noticeable in your mouth, and aren't visible to anyone looking at your smile.
Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign?
/
Some dental insurance plans will cover Invisalign like they do braces; others will not. Our office in NYC accepts most PPO insurance plans and can verify your coverage ahead of time. We also accept financing through lenders like CareCredit® and LendingClub® to keep treatment affordable.
A Cosmetic Treatment Can Be the Perfect Finishing Touch
Interested in getting even more of a cosmetic enhancement for your smile? Once your teeth are beautifully aligned through orthodontics, you can explore a number of cosmetic dentistry options for that extra aesthetic boost. The most popular options among our orthodontic patients are teeth whitening and BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Teeth Whitening
Our dentists perform in-office teeth whitening with products from leading brands. A professional treatment at our Murray Hill, Manhattan office can give you much more even and lasting results than over-the-counter products can. Just one whitening appointment with us will leave your smile noticeably brighter than when you arrived. Treatment is painless, takes less than an hour, and the results can last for months or even years.
BOTOX Cosmetic
BOTOX from the dentist? Yes, it's true! Dental practices are beginning to offer this anti-aging solution to patients, and our Murray Hill, Manhattan practice is one of them. BOTOX relaxes the facial muscles, which can bring great relief to patients with TMJ. It can also help you smooth fine lines, marionette lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging that detract from your smile. Treatment takes less than half an hour, and the results become apparent in days.
